Adopt a Hound / Mixed

Hound / Mixed Dog

Bobby the Dog needs a home

LOOKING FOR A SPECIAL HOME:  1.5 years old / 54 lbs.   Mostly Mutts adoption facility is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week.  I came to MM’s quite afraid, so I did a lot of belly crawling initially.  Fortunately, I’m a little more confident now, but still have a long way to go to be a confident dog.  I know that a loving home with a patient family and time will help my blossom.  The key to my heart and possibly my confidence is another very playful, confident and sweet dog or two, so I must have at least one dog like this in my new home to learn from.  I have a great play bow that I’ll show them, so we can play together, and I’ve loved every dog I’ve met so far, so let’s meet and make sure that your current dog will love me!  I’ve also done well with the kitty cats’ I’ve met.  I’m doing well with my potty manners on a good schedule and I’ve learned ‘sit’ and ‘down’ so far.  I’m initially not trusting of people, so if they ignore me at first, and let me smell them, that helps me feel better.  I may growl whenever something spooks me or I’m in a heightened state of alertness.  I’ve either growled and withdrawn or growled and just waited it out until I felt better.  My foster family can give you lots of tips on what’s working with me as they have made some good progress.  I’m drawn to women a bit more than men, however I’ve had some fears of women too.  To help me get accustomed to men, I’m fostered by two dog savvy brothers and they tether me to one of them at a time a good bit, which is helping to build trust.  I also see how much the other dog in my foster home loves them as well as the next door neighbors dog.  Hopefully, this will continue to help me build my trust in them too.  Household noises startle me, but I’m beginning  to learn them now.  When I’m out on my walks, I have more confidence, walking nicely with you and greeting other walkers, but inside I just need more patience and reassurance that you’ll love and be kind to me.  I ride well in the car, it just took a few trips to fun places before I’d get in by myself.  I’m behaved in my crate, though generally belly crawl into it.  I’m sweet, though pretty timid, but I’m looking forward to a long and loving friendship with my new family!  Energy level: 4-6, higher when playing with a dog!  A home with much older calm kids would be best as I haven’t been around kids yet and due to my growling when unsure.  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered and my adoption fee is $275.00.
